Smoothies for Todder Constipation

Toddlers screaming and yelling because it hurts to poop, is not something you want to deal with as a parent. Unfortunately this is common for most parents, at some time in your toddler’s life you will have to deal with the constipation monster. A child that lacks fiber can experience hard stools or not having bowel movements at all. Fiber can be found in a variety of fruits and vegetables. Fruits and veggies are not always appealing to toddlers.

Smoothies can be a fun way to make sure your toddler consumes fruits and veggies on a daily basis.
Once you introduce your child to smoothies they will become excited about fruits and veggies.
The smoothies will also help your child consume more fiber, more fiber will help the constipation monster go away.

Try including your little one in the smoothie making process, allow your child to place the fruits and vegetables in the blender. You can also teach your child the colors of the fruits and vegetables.
This is a method I used with my toddler, because of this exercise, she is now excited about produce.
Sometimes when we go to the grocery store, I will allow her to pick the produce out, by color.
I now have a little one who is excited about eating fruits and veggies, and she can't wait to have a smoothie for snack.

The smoothie recipe below is a recipe I use whenever I notice my daughter has not had a bowel movement in a while. This recipe works pretty fast.

Mimi's Drink

one while apple (sliced)

one plum (sliced)

one pear (sliced)

1/2 cup of prunes

1/2 cup of ice

one cup of organic orange juice
